From d20f80112f95c7d718f936ea14aadf7eb0accdea Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Paul Nothaft Date: Tue, 8 Sep 2026 16:25:51 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/5] feat(usage): prompt existing admins once for usage reporting after an update MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit An admin who already had PicPeak installed before the opt-in reporting feature existed never gets asked — the setup wizard only runs once, on a brand-new instance. Adds a one-time modal, shown on the admin's next dashboard visit after updating, offering the same choice the wizard gives a new install. - New `product_usage_state.prompt_shown` column (migration 211) and UsageService.markPromptShown(), set on either outcome (enable or decline) from both this modal and the wizard step, so an installation is never asked twice regardless of which path it took. - New POST /admin/usage/prompt-seen endpoint. - Extracted the wizard's three-point pitch (UsageReportingPitch.tsx) so the modal and the wizard step share identical copy instead of drifting apart. - The modal never shows once participation is already active, and never shows a second time after either the wizard or the modal has been through it once. Depends on #1360 (the setup wizard step this reuses). --- .../integration/productUsagePg.test.js | 1 + .../services/usageEnableDisableRace.test.js | 1 + .../services/usageExportReceipt.test.js | 1 + .../services/usageServiceKeyRotation.test.js | 1 + .../services/usageSnapshotSignals.test.js | 1 + .../core/211_product_usage_prompt_shown.js | 25 ++++ backend/src/routes/adminUsage.js | 7 ++ backend/src/usage/UsageService.js | 14 +++ frontend/src/components/admin/AdminLayout.tsx | 2 + .../components/admin/UsageReportingPitch.tsx | 36 ++++++ .../components/admin/UsageReportingPrompt.tsx | 107 ++++++++++++++++++ frontend/src/i18n/locales/de.json | 4 + frontend/src/i18n/locales/en.json | 4 + frontend/src/pages/SetupPage.tsx | 42 +++---- frontend/src/services/productUsage.service.ts | 5 + 15 files changed, 223 insertions(+), 28 deletions(-) create mode 100644 backend/migrations/core/211_product_usage_prompt_shown.js create mode 100644 frontend/src/components/admin/UsageReportingPitch.tsx create mode 100644 frontend/src/components/admin/UsageReportingPrompt.tsx diff --git a/backend/__tests__/integration/productUsagePg.test.js b/backend/__tests__/integration/productUsagePg.test.js index 08306b90..75967d76 100644 --- a/backend/__tests__/integration/productUsagePg.test.js +++ b/backend/__tests__/integration/productUsagePg.test.js @@ -54,6 +54,7 @@ maybe('product usage on Postgres', () => { await require('../../migrations/core/204_product_usage_privacy_receipts').up(db);
